About me
Hi! My name's Galina and I'm a self-taught artist based in Cardiff, Wales, UK. I've been captivated by the beauty of the world since childhood, my biggest early fascination being with trees and light. Like many, I started drawing and painting very early, however, it remained just a little hobby on the side, without proper guidance or formal education.
Later I pursued a legal education, though I found it unfulfilling. Art kept calling me back, and so at some point in 2014, probably wondering how I could make my life more satisfying, I decided to dedicate more of my time to exploring it seriously. Since then, I’ve been learning and practicing regularly, and eventually even held small masterclasses in my hometown.
I find inspiration in virtually anything: light streaming through foliage, the rippling water of a brook, urban shapes and lines, or the colours of the sky at the break of dawn and sunset. I work with a variety of media—watercolours, gouache, pens, coloured pencils, oil and soft pastels, and mixed media—choosing what best brings each idea to life. Through my art, I aim to capture and celebrate the beauty I see in the world, and hopefully, to inspire others to do the same.
